Woman’s Club sets Harvest Festival for September 20

Annual Games Day and Luncheon gets a new look

The  San Gabriel Woman’s Club is bringing back its Games Day and Luncheon under a different name and theme: the Harvest Festival.

Each year, SGWC hosts a breakfast-through-lunch board game marathon, where participants can play canasta, mahjongg, dominos and other games, all in the name of raising money for local causes. The club’s largest fundraiser, it was traditionally held during Mardi Gras, but Covid-19 cancelled the last two years of events for the group.

This year, they are bringing the event back with an autumn twist. Games will begin at 10 a.m. on September 20 and continue to 2:15 p.m. The event will be held in the Georgetown Community Center, 445 East Morrow Street in San Gabriel Park.

There are two options for tickets: $30, which includes breakfast, lunch and all the games you want, or $10, which covers lunch and games. All proceeds will go toward local charities, schools and other nonprofits.

Seating is limited and advance tickets are on sale until September 13. Make donations and checks payable to San Gabriel Woman’s Club. For information contact Bonnie Haynes at 281-222-6686.
