Nathan Chapman Honor Walk set for November 5

The annual Nathan Chapman Honor Walk takes place on November 5 as part of the Field of Honor in Georgetown.

Named after Sergeant First Class Nathan Ross Chapman — the first American soldier killed in Afghanistan and whose family lived in Georgetown — the 5K walk recognizes and highlights the service of first responders and veterans.

The walk follows a loop that starts and finishes at the Field of Honor display in San Gabriel Park. All walkers will be given the opportunity to announce the name of a veteran or first responder they are supporting.

Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for veterans and first responders. Funds raised go to Heroes Night Out and Wilco Blue Star & Gold Star Mothers, organizations that support those who protect the community.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 8:30 a.m. The walk is organized by the Sertoma Club. Donations in any amount will be accepted.
