Leonard Frank Iltis, Jr. of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on April 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on November 29, 1936. He graduated from Little Flower School in San Antonio. He married the love of his life, Geraldine Waldo (Gerri) on January 25, 1957. In 1966, they moved to Austin, where they raised their four children. Leonard was a career Aviation Mechanic and Supervisor with the Texas National Guard in Austin.

Family, faith and friends were his greatest joys. Leonard was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He would drop whatever he was doing to help anyone in need, and everyone who knew him loved him. He was a prankster and always had a joke – he laughed often and easily.

Leonard’s unending faith was important to him, as was giving back to his community. He was active at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, where he gave his time and talents to St. Vincent de Paul and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a volunteer at The Caring Place for many years, and he treasured his Caring Place family.

In addition to his beloved wife, Gerri, Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Vera Etter Iltis, and his sisters, Mildred Iltis Doyle and Carolyn Iltis Wright. He is survived by his children: son Wayne Iltis and wife Sandi of Round Rock; daughter Lynne Dodge of Austin; son Glenn Iltis and wife Julie of Georgetown; daughter Andrea Ramirez and husband Fletcher of Buda; brothers Alois Iltis and Thomas Iltis of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. with the rosary beginning at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place the following morning, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, at 10 a.m. with internment following at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in his honor made to The Caring Place (www.caringplacetx.org/how-to-help/give/donate-online.html), St. Vincent de Paul (https://ssvdp.org/donate), or the charity of your choice.
